Because I couldn't write more than one page before, Im just writing a new blog.<br />
I thought I might share some of my old work in case they might provide inspiration for someone.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRGCYr-SNmjJHn3acDf6UPhybpMXN1Qe3cVF5B58CZisZMQQG-_GaEw_TxZO8fjuwafyXnvRwhpGt3nlZh-qoqmJ_co8EnJ6qGVyy3uThBTjVICgySnIa_tQR8f5hMgoV6LuJvRFkEUQE/s1600/IMG_7972.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRGCYr-SNmjJHn3acDf6UPhybpMXN1Qe3cVF5B58CZisZMQQG-_GaEw_TxZO8fjuwafyXnvRwhpGt3nlZh-qoqmJ_co8EnJ6qGVyy3uThBTjVICgySnIa_tQR8f5hMgoV6LuJvRFkEUQE/s320/IMG_7972.jpeg" width="209" /></a><br />
These two below were for making bookmarks.<br />
<br />
I just can't move things on my page now, grrr<br />
<br />
From these three pics you might get some inspiration for colour schemes.<br />
<br />
Maybe that'll do for today<br />
Thanks for reading.xxx<br />

Thanks to tracy who has encouraged me to keep going after a time of not writing, the main reason being I moved house!!! Sadly Ive haven't been doing much art, two reasons, I'm getting slower at life in general and my energy has gone into an art class. As they were all old beginners I had to keep things simple, so i haven't been producing in my own style. We made flower pictures, colouring in mostly coloured pencils and watercolour pencils. Occasionally someone might try watercolour paints. Then we used the pictures for cards.<br />
<br />
Now I have a problem - I can't get anything else on my page!! So I will sign off and try to post it.<br />

<br />
Google has been in touch and evidently they made changes to my blog. Why can’t things stay the same forever..?<br />
It’s very hard on us elderly folk who want to continue with the technology they’ve learnt, but these geeks who are never satisfied have to theoretically make things better but in reality they get worse and you need a better brain or go back to school to keep up with it all. Frustrating<br />
I’m writing this on my tablet. Maybe it’s still ok on my computer. I’ll have to check. That will mean getting up from my seat. Grr.<br />
<br />
I’m still in the Zentangle world tho not as much. Helping others advance with workshops. But I’ve returned to my basic roots of painting.<br />
I’m no professional nor am I a realist painter or use oils. I’m only for beginners. That’s prob cos I only taught secondary students.<br />
So my art group and I are launching into watercolours. More like an adventure and exploration than technical masterclass.<br />
<br />
If I can download some pics I will but I have to learn how to manage this new set up so be patient please.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am so thrilled right now!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have finally sorted how I can get photos onto my blog from my laptop!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This may sound like Im dumb and it probably was, but I was using windows </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
on my old laptop and found I couldn't do the same things on my Macbook!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh yeah, now I know you can just drag one across. I had tried that before but didn't work, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
BUT IT DID TODAY!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So NOW I can tell you what Ive been up to, yehah!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(I've never typed in this format before, what do you think??)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have been working with Facebook groups, in particular <i>Travelling Tangles</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this group one does half a tangle, or just starts one, then posts them to someone else for a swap, who completes the tangle design.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just LOVE to receive other people's work, it can be so inspiring.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you will see below, the first picture is a batch I sent to a swapper, the second one a tile I sent with a zengem, and what the swapper finished the design off with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you like them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The greater challenge was to create on a black tile. I didn't have a black tile, so did colour on white, working through the colours of the rainbow being adjacent. Later I managed to find a piece of card I could adapt. As it was rather smooth, I chose to not shade.<br />

Always very much appreciated.<br />
<br />
This weeks challenge is a "Use My Tangle". Design a zentangle using Tri-bee by Beate Winkler CZT.<br />
I found this harder for me to do than it looked! However, as Diva Laura Harms always displays her first attempt, I persevered and made the most of what I had done.<br />

That is to use a stencil design as the string for the zentangle. I began to rummage around amongst my stencils, then remembered I had one already which would be just right. I created it while exploring Dylusion Spray Inks. As the design was made of various sized circles, I thought I would use as many tangles as I could which took on a circle format. The background has two or three layers of spray on it, so I needed to use a size 5 micron.<br />

This year was involved with a brief Facebook group called "Stacked and Tangled", where each tangle had to lie down over another, in various shapes, oblong, spiral, sphere, l shape etc.<br />
I'm currently away for a few days and brought with me a small watercolour book to work in. I had a page already coloured with Dylusion spray inks so drew on that. Extra colouring by markers. I had fun using Margaret Bremner's new tangle Pixioze.<img src="webkit-fake-url://C8B936D3-54BC-406F-B143-4C00C5748B2B/imagejpeg" /><img src="webkit-fake-url://02DB6C2D-4B6A-4461-8617-9D6303E5183D/imagejpeg" /><br />

I had fun using Margaret Bremner's new tangle Pixioze.<img src="webkit-fake-url://C8B936D3-54BC-406F-B143-4C00C5748B2B/imagejpeg" /><img src="webkit-fake-url://02DB6C2D-4B6A-4461-8617-9D6303E5183D/imagejpeg" />Precious Workerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11694992530013778169noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4747207420720168397.post-76799648150692356692015-09-09T02:57:00.002-07:002015-09-09T03:00:44.234-07:00Diva Challenge #234 Use new tangle "CanT "Chris Titus has given us a new tangle pattern called CanT, echoing her blog's name which is CanTangle!!<br />
I decided to apply some colour and some variations to the exercise.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rJMHDLDQvQM/Ve_-EigUEnI/AAAAAAAAFtg/7ua03c2j4rM/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rJMHDLDQvQM/Ve_-EigUEnI/AAAAAAAAFtg/7ua03c2j4rM/s400/image" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For those just entering the world of Zentangle, I thought I would share what I often do when a new tangle comes out and is worked with by those who possess inspiring and very skilful technical abilities. I have learnt an enormous amount from Margaret Bremner whose blog is http://enthusiasticartist.blogspot.com. I thoroughly enjoyed her blog last week with her variations on "Zenith". I copied as an exercise some of her artwork, of course not nearly as competent, and being lazy, not bothering to rule anything up, somehow my rows fall down at the end. This serves as a good resource for when I'm serious about a new work.<br />

Diva Challenge . Revisiting CameliaAsked this week to work on new or old patterns with S or C curves, and have some fun developing them with auras galore. So I thought I'd have some fun with my pattern "Camelia" (step outs included) I called these "Cameliarella"<br />
I found this challenge quite addictive and wanted to try all sorts of things as you will see below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5Joi9aUJDy4/VdacsGHgq_I/AAAAAAAAFro/WmPpI2sGU_0/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5Joi9aUJDy4/VdacsGHgq_I/AAAAAAAAFro/WmPpI2sGU_0/s400/image" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My first exercise was on some bookmark cards I had over from a recent swap. I just let things develop as they will.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-usjfHiLc1gQ/VdacLrtl0CI/AAAAAAAAFrA/qMJYJGfRRpU/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-usjfHiLc1gQ/VdacLrtl0CI/AAAAAAAAFrA/qMJYJGfRRpU/s400/image" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
From there I used a micron fine liner on white tile, gradually adding more and more lines, and some circles. Im having fun here!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X2mffTFTP40/VdacSytzizI/AAAAAAAAFrI/Gr3MZ9ZJizY/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="377" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X2mffTFTP40/VdacSytzizI/AAAAAAAAFrI/Gr3MZ9ZJizY/s400/image" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-276ZmMHoYuU/VdacZ5Uka3I/AAAAAAAAFrQ/VP8ppxFCkbY/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-276ZmMHoYuU/VdacZ5Uka3I/AAAAAAAAFrQ/VP8ppxFCkbY/s400/image" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Why not try a Renaissance tile ? This one turned out way more dramatic than I expected. Having the white highlights really gave a lift.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-og-m9IyPZNc/VdaclDA9kcI/AAAAAAAAFrg/P_nIkmj9rFc/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-og-m9IyPZNc/VdaclDA9kcI/AAAAAAAAFrg/P_nIkmj9rFc/s400/image" width="382" /></a></div>
<br />
From thee I shaded one of the white tiles. I think I liked the Renaissance tile best. How about you??<br />
<br />

I didn't begin with a string but thought I'd just let it "grow".<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tangles: Henna Drum, Mist, Umble, Mooka, Pais.</td></tr>

I could't leave it at that though, I wanted to add colour, so I erased the shading then had fun with markers, but keeping things subdued.<br />

I happily worked away on the "Circus " challenge and was quite happy with my result. THEN I discovered I should have used certain tangle patterns! Duh! as Im going away again, I don't have time to do another one, so I will unashamedly post what I have done.<br />
At the end of last weeks' blog I suggested folk try the colour scheme I have used, aqua, red and lime green. If you tried it, let me know. and a big thank you to all who posted such encouraging comments last week, they mean a lot.<br />
<br />

<br />
Other work under creation for my swap friends has been a challenge of one colour, 3 tangles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fWjlHOwlyK4/Va9MQbVC78I/AAAAAAAAFo4/fEMAhqZDONM/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fWjlHOwlyK4/Va9MQbVC78I/AAAAAAAAFo4/fEMAhqZDONM/s400/image" width="400" /></a></div>

When I left today it was 8 degrees centigrade! But I have been keeping up with my tangles, and have a few to share tonight now I am back on my laptop.<br />
<br />
This weeks' challenge to use two or three tangles and white space was an enjoyable task, and I liked the result, particularly as I'm prone to fill a tile every time!! I wasn't sure about the shading so I've included both.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--6XNqlBMwmc/VaYqReCvghI/AAAAAAAAFoU/rrvS1iOESMg/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--6XNqlBMwmc/VaYqReCvghI/AAAAAAAAFoU/rrvS1iOESMg/s320/image" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g8g1kBUZ0Vk/VaYqS_lgctI/AAAAAAAAFoc/xHFmHhVE2EY/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g8g1kBUZ0Vk/VaYqS_lgctI/AAAAAAAAFoc/xHFmHhVE2EY/s320/image" width="314" /></a></div>
I think it must be the most minimal I have ever done.<br />
Here's another tile where I attempted to create some white space.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aCniHN9mBqU/VaYqN8vDrgI/AAAAAAAAFoE/T5EwCHGubqU/s1600/image" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aCniHN9mBqU/VaYqN8vDrgI/AAAAAAAAFoE/T5EwCHGubqU/s320/image" width="291" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another challenge I worked on was a monotangle using Coaster, and an artwork for my tangle "Euca"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

For those who are struggling with colouring tangles, i'd like to give you a challenge to use the colours red, aqua and lime green together and let me know what you think. Shades and tints allowed.<br />

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been around for a while, and todays just a quickie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This weeks Diva challenge is to create something colourful. I have used a new tangle by Ina Sonnenmosser called Basement, and made a ZIA. I used coloured fine liner and Prisma coloured pencils.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some other works created lately are a tangleation of Knightsbridge and another new tangle by Ina called Guardian. The background for Knightsbridge was spray inks and stencil. The media for Guardian was watercolour paint.</div>

UMT 'All Boxed Up', more inks and stencilsToday's Diva Challenge was indeed just that. A challenge! Asked to use Alice Hendon's tangle "All boxed up" I made many mistakes as you can see by my first effort. Then I realised I shouldn't have the lines so close together, and to not be such a smarty pants trying to do it on curves when I haven't even done one on a straight line!! So my second effort was created using straight lines and not so close together. I added shading to give some special effects, and colour to top it off. I was pleased with that result. I'm being brave showing first one as its so bad, but to encourage anyone else who struggles.. to persevere!<br />

Continuing to explore spray inks, this week we tried using stencils, finally realising that less is more!!<br />

They are such yummy colours, you can go to town with colour schemes. Our recent swap for Facebook is to create bookmarks 2 x 6 inches. I found it easier to create a 4" x 6" size first, then cut it in half. Here are four I've done so far.<br />

Now for my Diva Challenge piece which has to be all straight lines! Decided to see if I could use a string with only straight lines, #120 fit the bill (oh, should've made a copy of it, sorry). Unfortunately for the photo I used a gel pen for some of the black, not realising it was metallic!!!<br />

I've had no luck with white pens. I keep buying them - good ones too- and they just keep drying up on me. Ive googled what to do but its not worked for me. I started using some coloured gel pens I had then it came to me I had a box of gel pens from Smiggle. Yey! They worked! Nevertheless, I liked the colours so finished that one, then did a stacked one in white. I shaded in white charcoal.<br />

<br />
I have just returned home from a most amazing event! A little village called Yarragon, 15 Minutes from where I live, normally runs an Art Exhibition every year. Instead this year they put on an "Arts Fest...the Full Spectrum". Twenty workshops over two days put on by twenty talented folk. Each ran for an hour and cost only $10. People even came from over one hundred miles away to be further educated in as many arts/crafts as they wished.<br />
<br />
On offer were calligraphy, gouache painting, journalling, printmaking, zentangle, scraper art, felting, weaving in the round, watercolour painting, acrylic painting, paper characteristics, knitting, pastels, watercolour pencils, sketching, charcoal, coloured pencils, marker rendering, In between my teaching sessions I did the workshop on using markers, and another with Canson Papers, which was an in-depth instruction about why papers and paints are so different in price and quality. An awesome two days.<br />

Duo-tangles are fun. They're easy to do in that you don't have to think what tangle to use, and you exercise your brain in trying to make an interesting design. The two tangles we are to use are Bunzo and Dex. I chose to use brown and red microns and Copic markers to shade.<br />

We have recently in Australia celebrated 100 years anniversary of the battle at Gallipoli. A while back thousands and thousands of poppies were placed outside Windsor castle in England. In a similar fashion a most astounding red carpet was laid out in Federation Square in Melbourne. This was made up of thousands of crocheted flowers. What an awesome sight!<br />
