Diva Challenge #229 Negative space

Being one to usually crowd a tile with work, this week's challenge is a good  one for me. I didn't begin with a string but thought I'd just let it "grow".

Tangles: Henna Drum, Mist, Umble, Mooka, Pais.

I could't leave it at that though, I wanted to add colour, so I erased the shading then had fun with markers, but keeping things subdued.

Diva Challenge #227 Circus

I made a few booboos this time! I happily worked away on the "Circus " challenge and was quite happy with my result. THEN I discovered I should have used certain tangle patterns! Duh!  as Im going away again, I don't have time to do another one, so I will unashamedly post what I have done.
At the end of last weeks' blog I suggested folk try the colour scheme I have used, aqua, red and lime green. If you tried it, let me know. and a big thank you to all who posted such encouraging comments last week, they mean a lot.

Tangles: Printemps, Striping, Shattuck, Jalousie, Reticulated, Onamato and Hibred.

Other work under creation for my swap friends has been a challenge of one colour, 3 tangles.

Diva Challenge #226 "Simplicity"

I've been away for a few days in the city of Melbourne and it has been cold and wet. When I left today  it was 8 degrees centigrade! But I have been keeping up with my tangles, and have a few to share tonight now I am back on my laptop.

This weeks' challenge to use two or three tangles and white space was an enjoyable task, and I liked the result, particularly as I'm prone to fill a tile every time!! I wasn't sure about the shading so I've included both.

 I think it must be the most minimal I have ever done.
Here's another tile where I attempted to create some white space.

Another challenge I worked on was a monotangle using Coaster, and an artwork for my tangle "Euca"

For those who are struggling with colouring tangles, i'd like to give you a challenge to use the colours  red, aqua and lime green together and let me know what you think. Shades and tints allowed.

Diva Challenge 225

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been around for a while, and todays just a quickie.

This weeks Diva challenge is to create something colourful. I have used a new tangle by Ina Sonnenmosser called Basement, and made a ZIA. I used coloured fine liner and Prisma coloured pencils.

Some other works created lately are a tangleation of Knightsbridge and another new tangle by Ina called Guardian. The background for Knightsbridge was spray inks and stencil. The media for Guardian was watercolour paint.

Diva Challenge #220. UMT 'All Boxed Up', more inks and stencils

Today's Diva Challenge was indeed just that. A challenge! Asked to use Alice Hendon's  tangle "All boxed up" I made many mistakes as you can see by my first effort. Then I realised I shouldn't have the lines so close together, and to not be such a smarty pants trying to do it on curves when I haven't even done one on a straight line!! So my second effort was created using straight lines and not so close together. I added shading to give some special effects, and colour to top it off. I was pleased with that result. I'm being brave showing first one as its so bad, but to encourage anyone else who struggles.. to persevere!

Continuing to explore spray inks, this week we tried using stencils, finally realising that less is more!!

I think I'd say they all need some fixing up! Some of the good papers I have used for cards.  Show you those next week. To finish off with something a bit more successful are my bookmarks for the Facebook swap group. I've forgotten which ones I've shown already so I'll just put them all on.

The next two have to be cut into two yet. They doubled as offerings for Stacked and Tangled group on FB.

All were rendered in Copic or Mexpy markers.

Diva Challenge #219 with Markers

I've just about recovered from our Creative Yarragon weekend and am really enjoying the two sets of Mepxy brush markers I purchased, Basic and Pastel. They are such yummy colours, you can go to town with colour schemes. Our recent swap for Facebook is to create bookmarks 2 x 6 inches. I found it easier to create a 4" x 6" size first, then cut it in half. Here are four I've done so far.

Now for my Diva Challenge piece which has to be all straight lines! Decided to see if I could use a string with only straight lines, #120 fit the bill (oh, should've made a copy of it, sorry). Unfortunately for the photo I used a gel pen for some of the black, not realising it was metallic!!!
