Hi all,  bit of a challenge this one to create something not boring! I had recently purchased some gelly roll pens at Paperific expo, so just had to try them out!
After that worked on traditional black and white.

the glory of flowers

Hi all, I have two things Id like to blog about today. I should be cleaning the kitchen, but thats too bad. I was given some lovely daffodils by a friend in response to me giving her some of my proteas and camelias. The colours blow me away. I just have to take photos! Then she gave a second batch together with some purple flowers..that was just too much. I hope you can enjoy a little of my joy in the pictures.

The other thing I wanted to share is the view where I go to the gym. I just love sheep and cows, I dont know why, I just do. It will probably look ordinary to some but maybe city slickers can appreciate a little country!!

challenge#35

I was delighted to see Linda had put my tangle on "Tanle Patterns yesterday, so thought it fitting that I should use it for this week's challenge. I have also used my next tangle "Fifolia" , the little eucaluptus tree flowers, as well.

Aussie tangles

Yay! Have my first tangles to put online. Now I am no graphic designer, so they sure arent perfect, but you will get the idea hay! They came to me when I was making the bookmarks for the Chinese ladies, and are derived from eucalyptus leaves and their flowering blossoms, here called Ficafolia. In fact we have a Ficafolia Festival when the whole main street is out in bloom with these colourful gum flowers.

I have two more but will leave those til next week, when I have made a some tile for them.
You have a go, theyre fun!

AUSSIE BOOKMARKS

I have been invited to an afternoon tea with some Chinese visitors, so though it would be nice to do an Aussie zentangle bookmark for them. As I was scanning them I realised they arent quite finished, I plan to do some additional linear patterns here and there, but you will get the idea. They arent wonderful, but its about sharing isnt it. In the process I designed my own Aussie tangles!

another bookmark

Enjoyed doing this one but may keep it b+w

challenge #34

Allowed myself an additional challenge today by not filling the first tile!

For this I used a brown fineliner on Favini paper, shading with coloured pencil. I found the Favini a pleasant surface to work on.

COLOURED BOOKMARKS

Coloured the other two of my bookmarks, using Derwent watercolour pencils. Found these seemed to work better than the markers.

Some colour work

Recently had some fun with colourwash on different surfaces, examples

These were on watercolour smooth, zentangle card and watercoloour medium papers.
When I worked on them the latter one was difficult due to its texture. One I put a stamp on and worked with different coloured fineliners , another I added one colour with a marker.

So I discovered you definitely need a smooth surface. (wheres the fun if you dont experiment?)
Coloured my first bookmark with tombow markers and a blender.

Nearly time for Challenge #34..wonder what it will be!!

Bookmarks

Had some fun last night making a couple of bookmarks, then today waiting an hour for a doc, did another one. So glad I had my "stuff" with me.  Scanned them without a break, so will separate them when coloured and scanned again.

Exploring Prismacolour

You think youve learnt all you need to know about using colour pencils, and then you discover another technique! I have been to workshops where the artist teaches the most intricate  of details and you only get a fifth of the picture completed in a whole day! I wanted to explore Prismacolour pencils because they will colour on black, and are quite intense. I tried them on zentangle card then asked the artist the artist who sells them what paper she recommends. Whilst she is presently using watercolour paper, she also likes Canson Edition, so I tried that with a tangle to colour. Results below.

After colouring, I used a "blender" no colour pencil. It evens out the colour so you dont have little white flecks showinbetter,g. I have always used Derwents in the past, and actually find these a little better, but would only get them if you are a colourholic. Im off to get some more colour tomorrow!! The artist came to our school today and showed students how she layers colours. somethng different.

Wednesday 3rd August

Managed to do challenge #33 in one go yesterday. Quite amazing considering I felt worn out after taking my year 12 students to a public art gallery. As we are studying the art industry, we needed to view methods of conservation and preservation, whats involved  in being a curator or an education officer, and how to hang an exhibition.
After that we went to another town, but there the gallery had closed down. Next town ...the electricity was OFF! Fortunately, the retail gallery had enough light to see the artworks and other products which they sold. As we live in the country, there are no solely retail galleries around. Most have accompanying things for sale, or do framing such as the last one we visited.
Viewing some local artworks.

And my attempt at Pendrils!
