Fun 1 using Jilli

Last night I thought I'd like to use one of the real Zentangle tiles plus use Sue Jacobs new tangle Jilli. I enjoyed both! The tile had a beautiful texture to work on and I loved the linear quality of Sue's pattern.
For the string I did a looped string down two sides.

Diva #107 and Zendala Dare #45 challenges

Can't believe how busy being retired is!! I guess we visit all those we didn't have time to when we worked, and invite the rest to our place! Just as well I do most of my tangling in the evening.
Although I have already completed a tile using  Maria's tangle Quandary (last post), practice is always good, so enjoyed completing another for Diva Challenge #107.

Using new tangles

Every week we are treated to new tangles folk have created. " Why not use them?" I said to myself, so I did. These three were on Tangle Patterns last week, Falz and Xenso by Sue Clark and Heartstrings by Helen Williams. When I finished the penwork, I felt the outcome was a bit too linear, so decided to shade with a colour.

Last week Maria Thomas treated us to her new tangle Quandary. I was awed by her tiles of beautiful artwork, and just HAD to use this new tangle!

Zendala Dare #44 and Diva's #106 etc.

I have some good, bad and indifferent stuff today. some I don't really want to post its so bad, but as "there are no mistakes with zentangle", and others have been courageous enough to show their 'really bad' work, so I will too. Keeps us humble and that we aren't perfect, or 'have arrived' but are on a great JOURNEY TOGETHER.

Diva's #106.....Think I really lost the plot with this one!

Zendala  Dare #44
I have been working on an A3 piece, using a Micron 005 sepia pen on Bristol paper -270gsm (lovely). I wanted to have as many tangles on it as I could , using ones A to E. A few others popped in when I wasn't thinking about the name!!. I photographed  and printed it out at A4 in sepia, then shaded it with dark brown Prismacolour Verithins. The original I am colouring in with autumn colours.

Trains Part 2.

Broken Hills most renowned artist Pro Hart, painting his town and its people as he saw them.
We had a two hour "Whistle Stop" as they call it. in the town of Broken Hill. The town was pretty empty as it was around 7pm and everyone had gone home after a very hot day. The town is known for its silver  and mineral mines and is quite old for Australia. Now I look at these pics, I wish I had taken more of the wrought iron designs, they were amazing and everywhere.

Most of the older homes are built from corrugated iron

Heres a newer one, made from timber.

heres an hotel just out of town. in a town called Silverton. another name for Broken Hillis the Silver City.
is the Wild West or what?

Most of the scenery is pretty much like this. Desert really.

I picked this colourful gum nut in flower to paint at home. I just love the shape.

This is the main street, just to show you some of the wrought iron work.

How about this? a bit of Art Deco!!

Hope you enjoyed that taste of our outback!!
Oh I nearly forgot! Outside the station are two great paintings of trains..

for Train Lovers; wrought iron

We recently had a trip from Adelaide to Sydney on the Indian Pacific. This train goes from coast to coast. I think I have spoken about this before, but I have some pictures now.

This may look quite long, well it is!! 30 carriages!

Inside the lounge
I

The right and left side of our cabin with the ensuite door open. In there is toilet, shower and basin.

After dinner you return to your cabin to find the bed all  made up for you, complete with a chocolate!

My photos are playing up, so I am going to close this post and start another one to show you a town we stopped at which has amazing wrought iron work on the buildings.

Diva Challenge #105

"Use My Tangle" week this week. We have been given "Dansk" by Margaret Bremner to work with. I do like this tangle and have been inspired by how others have used it. I have also been inspired by two new tangles - Voga by Carole Ohl and Starawn by Judy Murphy, so have used both in my zentangle. I had a few minutes to spare so thought I would do a monotangle with Dansk, but just had to decorate it with Beadlines!

Tried a 3D Dansk too

NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY!

Laura Harms is  giving away a Tangle A Day Calendar, courtesy of the amazing and wonderful Carole Ohl, CZT. To enter, create a tile using Dansk, and leave a comment saying you'd like a calendar! For an extra entry, share this giveaway on your blog.

Zendala Dare #43

Erin has challenged us this week to place our favourite tangles in the template she gave us. Whilst I probably do have favourites, I couldn't pin point anyone in particular. A lot depends on the shape which I am to fill in which tangle I use, as most people do. I think the ones I have used in this template I use frequently, so must be amongst my faves. What I do love to do is use colour, so here's my Gelly Roll pen offer.

New Tangle Giotto

I recently made this tangle in order to use in a zentdala design to fit in a certain space. I called it Giotto as he was one of my favourite artists. Here it is as a monotangle to show some variations of it.

A simple pattern this week provided by a very, very, very busy Erin. Many thanks .
